“ Answer The Client is an ingenious little tool that makes the process of gaining insight into the value of press coverage related web traffic as easy as possible.

Connect your Google Analytics account and paste in your coverage URLs, and lo and behold - an immediate snapshot of how much coverage traffic was generated, as well as any goal and/or transaction value created. Certainly a lot easier than trying to sift out press coverage from general referral traffic in GA by hand. And it’s free. What’s not to like?”

How it works?

1

You hook up your Google Analytics account.

2

Paste in your online coverage.

3

And we’ll produce a lovely SIMPLE table of information. No waffle or geekery required.

What does this thing do?

This tool uses your Google Analytics data to help simply demonstrate what traffic your coverage sent to a specific website.

Why we built it?

It’s important to see:
But trying to filter through massive referral reports to isolate your campaigns is painful. We thought it could be easier.

Frequently asked questions

Is my Google Analytics data confidential, and will it be changed?

Nothing will be changed in your Google Analytics accounts and all the data remains confidential.

I have literally no idea what Google Analytics is and why it's good for measuring my public relations work. Point me to something in plain english that will explain.

This blog post from Rich Leigh will do it. Off the Record: PRs CAN prove how much money we make for clients - and here’s how

Ok I've read that article above. Now I'm interested. But hungry for more knowledge on Google Analytic for PR. What do I read next?

Good...good. Then this guide produced by Andrew Smith for the CIPR will light the way

Can this tool just tell me how many referral visits I get from coverage? I know we don't have fancy things like goals & revenue tracking setup.

Yes. Even if you don't have goals setup it will still work and pull back visits. If there are any.

I've connected my Google Account. But I can’t see my client in the list?

Make sure your email address has been granted access to the account you want to check data for.

Who built this tool? Why are you doing this for free?

The team from coveragebook.com built this tool. We're pretty obsessive about making the lives of hard working PR teams better. Our hope is that this free tool will help PR teams to take a step towards better measurement of their work. If that generates a few trials for coveragebook along the way then cool. But no big deal if not.
